The title that has no name

Journal Entry: Sat Nov 21, 2009, 5:38 AM

My brain's flustered at the moment. It is aware that at some point in the very near future, presents have to be bought, turkeys are to be stuffed and drink is going to be consumed...maybe all at once.

I'm working on a commission at the moment that involves a car, so it's taking up a bit of my time. However between the breaks, old paintings have be completed and some ACEO's done (My breaks involve more painting :) ) I'll upload them after I've rambled some.

Today, I heard a Christmas song -Wham/Last Christmas- and have collapsed into a state of panic. I know I have to buy wrapping paper and this fills me with dread, not so much the buying but the inevitable wrapping of gifts-that-defy-to-be-wrapped. Every year I end up covered in tape, stabbing myself with the scissors and inventing new swear words after the resulting wrapped pressie bears resemblence to a tentacled monster having a fit. Usually these gifts are no more that a box of chocolates, such is my skill at gift-wrapping :(

What are all your plans for Christmas or are you currently reading this and panicking that someone has mentioned Christmas already?

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Journal Entry: Sat Oct 31, 2009, 10:39 AM

It's that time of year again when the witches and demons come a callin' for some sweeties, usually to get confronted with the words 'bugger off!'

Just kidding...uh huh :hmm:

Anyhoo, for those in the mood for a good scary or just plain entertaining movie tonight, here are a few classics I found on YouTube (God Bless it) for your pleasure. Be sure to fave, or comment or subscribe to these lovely people who took the time to upload them:

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

[link] CAT PEOPLE PART ONE

This is the original version and not the poor ass remake of the 80's. Directed by Jacques Tourneur (He who directed Night of the Demon), it's a story about a woman who believes she can turn into a cat and maul people...as cat's do. There's some genuinely creepy moments in this movie.

[link] THE CAT AND THE CANARY

Starring Bob Hope and Paulette Goddard, this is not really a horror but it has plenty of one liner's to die for and a fantastic cast. This is a fave of mine :D

[link] FORBIDDEN PLANET

This is more of a Sci-Fi with Horror elements in it. Beware the ID. Starring Walter Pidgeon and Leslie Nielson (Yes, him of Naked Gun), this is a brilliant film which takes the elements of Shakespeare's The Tempest and plonks them in space.

[link] Fright Night

Proper funny Vampire movie with some geniunely frightening moments, a great cheesy 80's soundtrack and (WARNING)a tiny bit of nudity and some bloody moments. It's a riot ;)

Here are some random Halloween clips found on the Tube. Some contain blood, violence and squishy horror moments. :woohoo:

[link] A Nightmare on Elm street- A new nightmare - Julies Death

[link] EVil dead II - what's in my fruit cellar

[link] -The Thing Carpenter -Blood test scene.

[link] - An American Werewolf in London. On the moors.

And because I think it's hilarious, here is a spoof featuring gay zombies:

Also, it wouldn't be Halloween on DA without a few choice Horror pictures from some of the wonderful artists on here:

Hope you enjoyed all that and :pumpkin: HAPPY HALLOWEEN

Features and random stuff

Journal Entry: Mon Oct 12, 2009, 5:01 AM

It's the start of a new week and I have a good load of painting to be done. Just to keep people updated with what I'm doing.

I'm currently working on painting more Watchmen art (big surprise there), hoping to include some Ozymandias and possibly some Dr. Manhattan. I'll start up some tutorials again soon, if anyone wants to see 'em.

Other than that, nothing else remarkable is happening at the moment. It can't anyway, I'm too damn busy painting for awesome people :D

***Here are a few inspiring works of art which I can't stop looking at: ***

Commission size update and a thank you.

Journal Entry: Thu Oct 1, 2009, 11:03 AM
Just a quick thank you to all who contributed some excellent advice in my recent poll on clearing up the bungedness during my cold. I snorted salt water, drank garlic tea and pretty much tried everything suggested to me and a lot of it worked or made me forget about my cold for a bit XD

Huge  for your help.

I'm carrying on with the commissions as I'm still some way to saving for next years Comic-Con. A friend of mine has decided to brave the journey with me and so now there are no excuses...I will have to go :D

On another note, I've just seen District 9 and was completely gobsmacked by how great it is. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Fairly tempted to paint a shrimp now.

Commish, exhibitions and Gunga-Diner competition

Journal Entry: Tue Aug 11, 2009, 3:32 AM
Just a few things to ramble on about:

Firstly, there is a competition over at the :icongunga-diner: You could win art from :iconserrifth: , :iconvoodoofish: , :iconbilious: and me :D The deadline for entries end on 25th August and it is well worth checking out if you're a Watchmen fan:

I recently finished a Beatles painting for the ComeTogether Beatles Exhibition at the Liverpool Academy of Arts. The painting was quite abstract and colourful and of course, in the rush to get it finished, guess who forgot to take pictures of the damn thing. I'll take some pics and upload when I go to the viewing :) I'm a silly sod.

***************

Reminder to say I'm uploading quite a few paintings onto Ebay at the moment, this includes ACEO's and larger paintings on acrylic paper, which can be found here: [link]

Also, Commissions are still open. Thank you very much to those who have commissioned me so far.

The price guide includes P& P :

ACEO's/art cards (2.5" x 3.5"): £10/$16
A5 acrylic paper (5.5" x 8"): £15/$24
A4 acrylic paper (8 " x 11.5"): £20/$32
A3 acrylic paper (11.5" x 15.5"): £25/$41

I'm going to try painting on A2 and A1 watercolour paper soon for BIG paintings. That way, if anyone international wanted to purchase one, I could roll it and avoid scaring ppl with the BIG postage costs :)

That's about it at the moment. Oh, the other day I sat on a wasp, I didn't mean to, but I'm sure it didn't suffer too much. Luckily for me it did not feel the need to sting me before it shed its mortal black and yellow coil. So there you go, thats my exciting week all summed up: Not taking pictures of paintings and inadvertently squashing insects.
